Cherokee Point Conservation AreaFree

2501 Cherokee Rd.St. CloudFlorida, USA

The property protects picturesque wet pastures and an upland peninsula. This site is frequently visited by wildlife, especially a variety of bird species, such as the endangered Everglades snail kite, Sandhill Crane, Bald Eagle, Limpkin, white pelican (winter) and several waterfowl species. Cherokee Point is open to the public for passive recreational use and serves as a conservation area for native wildlife and vegetation habitat. Most significantly for hikers, a lengthy boardwalk now provides a scenic hike out to a levee on the rim of Lake Tohopekaliga, the marshes and shoreline excellent for birding.
